My wife and I traveled to Perth, Western Australia in October to hear our son Julian perform his graduation Jazz recital at WAAPA (Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts). We were also privileged to hear four other fantastic musicians as well. We had two great evenings of Jazz.
The guys get to play in each others recitals so you get to hear them interspersed throughout the recordings.
Zoom H2 recorder recordings have had a small amount of bass equalization applied (was too boomy)
Note: Only use these recordings for individual use, As the rights to these are with the musicians themselves. I recorded these for my own enjoyment and not for any other gain. I know the musicians will probably get a high quality recording eventually from the Uni, but until then they can listen here. Rex
Julian Foord – Piano
Julian wowed the audience with his own unique piano style and fantastic white suit! After starting with a quiet number of his own “Serendipity” he followed this up with another of his own “Too Soon”, a catchy number dedicated to Esbjorn Svensson from Swedish Band E.S.T., who died earlier this year. His other original number “Resurrection By Fire” had everyone’s fingers smokin’ with its fast upbeat tempo. He finished the evening with a totally sublime version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, bringing a tear to everyone’s eyes. A fantastic finish to a great evening. He asked the sound technicians to turn the PA off, so we got to witness the raw acoustic beauty of the piano and Julian’s delicate touch.

I think “Over the Rainbow” is probably my favourite song. I’ve greedily downloaded all of Hooly’s performance, but will have to wait until tonight to listen. But I’ll go method, turning off all the lights and sitting quietly with headphones on.

Yeh, I liked it as well. I really love the chording new the finish.
It is very quiet because it is just pure hooly and piano. If you turn it up you will hear some noise and artifacts that the mp3 encoding does introduce .
